ARRI ALEXA SxS DTE is the first Alexa family released back in 2010. There is a 35 mm sensor that shoots in 2.8K resolution with an ISO 800 sensitivity. This makes it possible to shoot with both excessive and insufficient exposure in 7-step increments. The camera supports basic codecs such as REC709 HD and Log-C. This allows for more flexible changes during post-processing of the footage.

The maximum working resolution is 3168×1782 with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Video is saved without compression in the ARRIRAW format.

The viewfinder can be mounted in two positions, both side and rear, which greatly facilitates the work of the operator. The viewfinder is based on the F-LCOS microdisplay and shows video in a resolution of 1280×768. It also supports temperature stabilization and auto calibration. The optics are made of high-quality glass, and the mounting mechanisms are reliable and durable.

Uncompressed HD and ARRIRAW data is output via HD-SDI (single/dual link, standard BNC connectors) for recording to an external recorder. The output signal is guaranteed the highest quality and full band, because it is not subjected to prefiltration and spectrum limitation.

This camera can be used as a camcorder. All material is recorded on SxS cards and instantly available for editing thanks to built-in Apple ProRes codecs.
